The restoration of a neglected sailboat in Lignano — shown through key work stages as we brought it back to life.
The task was to restore a long-neglected sailboat in Lignano.
We’d like to show you the process — not necessarily in chronological order, but step by step through the main work phases.
On this boat, all kinds of materials had been mixed together and applied in the wrong layering sequence, and in some areas, completely unsuitable products were used.
The first task was removing the so-called anti-slip surface — which was so slippery that you could almost skate on the deck when the air was humid.
Later in the afternoon, the SM10 GEL paint remover was applied using a roller.
The next morning, we started washing off the softened coating with a high-pressure washer — unfortunately, this process had to be repeated several times.
The work then continued with cleaning the stainless-steel parts and fittings.
For this, we used AL2, applied in different dilutions depending on the level of contamination.
It completely removes surface rust, and after a light polish, the stainless parts regain their original shine.
Always use protective gloves when handling AL2!
